Put simply, machining is the process of removing material to change the shape and size of a workpiece. The process uses power-driven machines equipped with sharp cutting tools to mechanically remove material to achieve a precise, or highly specific, size and shape.

Machining plays a vital role in the manufacturing of almost all metal products and is also often used when working with other materials like wood or plastic.

70 Years of Machining Experience

United Scientific Inc is a premier Minnesota production-machine shop that specializes in machining services and creating precision custom-manufactured parts for a wide variety of industries. Today, we still operate 20 screw machines, but additionally have 4 CNC Lathes, 4 Swiss Type Lathes, 8 CNC Mills, and 15 manual Mills, along with a manual grinding department, a complete Centerless Grinding department, and a state-of-the-art Inspection Department.
